Hot Water Boiler Treatment
Do I need it? Absolutely!! Did you know that water is called the "Universal Solvent"? Why? Because water, given enough time, will dissolve just about anything it contacts. Your water contains calcium and other dissolved minerals. Minerals that have been dissolved out of solid rock. Some waters contain iron, some silica and others, manganese. All these minerals have been dissolved by cold water. Now, imagine that water being heated to 190oF and you can see just how quickly it will dissolve iron and copper (your pipes)! This results in pin holes, rust and corrosion. All this is caused by water. If you add dissolved Oxygen and Galvanic activity, you now have further increased the corrosion rates in your building. Soon corrosion by-products start to plug your zone valves, destroy your pump seals, coat your heat exchanger surfaces and even lead to cracks in your boiler tubes. This Black Sludge or "Your pipes in liquid form" leaks out of valves and stain floors and carpets not to mention your hands. Can a proper water treatment program stop this?.....Yes! At Westchem, we have spent many years refining the protection of Hot Water Boiler Systems through applied chemical treatment.
